Objective:
Create a clay "fossil" of your own through plaster casting.
Details:
1) Watch a few tutorials about plaster casting in order to get an idea of what plaster casting is, the materials you’ll need, and how to create your casting.
You can choose any tutorial you would like, but we suggest Rachel Dein: Botanical Bas-relief Originator from Plantpop (as it shows just how beautiful these works can be), and Bas Relief Botanical Art Using Air Dry Clay and Plaster of Paris from Lucy Akins (as it demonstrates using easily accessible materials from the dollar store).
2) Create a plaster casting of an organic material. You could use plant branches, flowers, shells or even bones! The point here is to choose something that will resemble a fossil once casted.
3) Take a photo of your plaster casting and share it in our Facebook Group.
