Weekly Challenge: 👭 Curious Companion
September is Member Appreciation Month 2026! This month, we’re featuring THREE CHALLENGES created by your fellow scouts. This week’s challenge was inspired by Shamim Graff, who challenges you to choose a travel mascot for your future adventures!
Details:
Travel mascots are small objects that people bring with them on trips. Some people consider them good luck charms, while others enjoy documenting their trip through photos of their mascot in the places they visited. There's even mascots that have their own social media accounts to share their adventures.
1) Think about what kind of object would make a meaningful mascot to you. It might be something that represents your favorite animal, a beloved character, or just something fun that catches your eye. You can get some ideas by searching for travel mascots online.
2) Select your travel mascot. You might find just the right item on your next outing, or maybe in something you own already. Or you may choose to craft a mascot that is unique to you. Take your time with your selection - you're going to be going on lots of adventures with your new companion! Keep it small and easy to carry! As you begin your search for a travel mascot, remember you want something you can easily take with you. Think something you can tuck in your pocket or in a bag you usually travel with. You may also want to make alterations to your object to make them easier to travel with, such as adding a clip or jump ring to keep them teathered.
Note: If you already have a travel mascot, you do not need to choose a new one for this challenge, and can instead share what you’ve already got!
3) Choose a fitting name for your mascot.
4) Share a photo of your new mascot and introduce them to us in a comment on our Facebook Page on the post “Weekly Challenge- 👭 Curious Companion.” (Posting on our Facebook Page is what reminds us to award you your well deserved star!)
Make sure to tell us who they are and they you chose them!

-Post a comment to the Facebook post mentioned above, (Step 3)
-before October 19, 2026
